Pack Your Parachute

When you sell a business, it is metaphorically like parachuting from an airplane. Skydivers board a plane so it can take them to the right altitude. Then when the time is right, they jump. Skydiving is an exhilarating experience because it has been carefully planned and having a parachute packed and ready to deploy when the ripcord is pulled is the most important part of their jump.

While skydiving is a planned experience facilitated by a parachute opening when it should, there are other times when parachutes are used as a backup device when an aircraft is in trouble and those on board the aircraft grab a parachute and jump to safety.

If you’re a skydiver, making sure your parachute is packed the right way not only ensures a great experience, but your life depends on it. For those that use parachutes as a backup plan, it’s hard to pack a parachute when the engines are on fire and in a tailspin. Moral of this metaphor: Always have your parachute packed and ready.

My upcoming book Pack Your Parachute –How to Double the Amount of Money You Put in Your Pocket When You Sell Your Business, provides a step-by-step approach on how you can double the amount of money that goes into your pocket when the time comes to sell your business.

Is It Magic?

None of the strategies and techniques included in this report, or in the Pack Your Parachute book, are by themselves unique or mysterious, but when effectively executed in unison, this is when the magic happens. It’s similar to how yeast works in the bread making process. Yeast serves as a multiplier because it facilitates a complex interaction between flour and water that gives bread its texture, denseness, and taste qualities.

In summary, my forthcoming book Pack Your Parachute –How to Double the Amount of Money You Put in Your Pocket When You Sell Your Business has a step-by-step process you can follow together with real-life case studies that are drawn from my decades of experience in helping entrepreneur get into and out of a business as well as actual case studies taken from my podcast called Business Exit Stories.
